Sceptics United: finding your signal in a noisy world

In a turbulent, complicated world, it's increasingly difficult to separate signal from noise. We're all under a barrage of information, all of the time.

But maybe the things that we're told to consider important – new ideas, new thinking, new tech – are the very things that we should be questioning the most. Who actually benefits? What's a fad versus a long-term bet?

Looking back at digital trends and using case studies from his own experience, Hugh will piece together examples and stories to help you ask questions, think through problems, and trust your gut.

Hugh Wallace is Chief Information Officer at Research Data Scotland (RDS), an organisation that helps researchers find and make use of data to improve the lives of people in Scotland.

Prior to RDS, Hugh led a high-profile programme to deliver a common payments platform in Scottish Government and support digital service development within Scotland’s Social Security agency. His previous roles include leading the digital teams at Oxfam and National Museums Scotland, and heading up the design function in a digital agency.
