Workshop: Co-designing the future with Speculative Design

Headshot of Nexer service designer and Camp Digital 2023 speaker Danielle Stone.

This is a hands-on 90 minute workshop to explore Speculative Design run by Danielle Stone from Nexer who will be joined by by Lauren Coulman from the Responsible Tech Collective.

Danielle will introduce speculative design methods which help us to look beyond immediate user needs to create services that are good for people and planet.

Lauren will then set our context for the workshop - sharing some of the RTC’s research about citizens sharing their data with the Government and the trust in authorities to make good decisions on their behalf.

With this as a background, we’ll be exploring how speculative design methods can help us explore possible futures, ideating with those future worlds so that we can learn from them, to ultimately impact our design decisions today. We’ll explore how to create speculative artefacts that challenge our short-term view and help us share our learnings with others.

Danielle is a service designer at Nexer Digital with over 15 years' experience in the design industry and a passion for human-centred approaches: helping to design better digital experiences and better services for fellow humans.
